3G vs. 4G: What’s the difference?
First things first, the “G” stands for a generation of mobile technology, installed in phones and on mobile networks.
2G and 3G is followed by fourth generation. Any new generation usually bring new base
technologies, more network capacity for more data per user, and the potential for better voice quality, too.
If you like to surf the Web and especially stream video, 4G can be heaven. If you connect a laptop to your mobile link, 4G makes a huge difference. In general, anything involving transferring large amounts of data gets a big boost from 4G.
This means a music album taking 20 minutes to download on a 3G phone and just over 3 minutes on 4G (average of 5 and 7 times faster).
As more people own 4G devices that take advantage of the state-of-the-art technology, third-party businesses and organisations will be more encouraged to create content to accommodate them.
Over a number of years, mobile apps have made it relatively easy to do things like make credit card purchases on the go or take advantage of Groupons and other daily deals in your proximity. The next generation of 4G-enabled mobile applications will make it simple and seamless to pay for a virtual movie ticket or real bag of groceries with just a tap of your device. Your smartphone or tablet, in essence, will transform into a mobile wallet.
Expect the next wave of mobile applications to not only point us to merchandise, groceries and drink specials that are most relevant for us, but also pay for and receive loyalty points from anything we end up purchasing.
Not everything, to do with 4G will lead to nirvana, but it will certainly connect your customer to our App Store, which is Northern Ireland’s only web hosting platform for Apple iPhone and Google Android Mobile and iPad Apps.
So, when you have decided that App Store NI is were you would like to purchase and host your business app build. Then, with simply pressing a button your customer can download your business straight to their phone.
More than a third of all adults in the UK (34%) use their smart phone within five minutes of waking up, a figure that rises to almost half (49%) of those aged 18-24, the report’s research found.
The future is now! Make your business mobile.
